Coronavirus is spreading at a fast pace, so therefore we have chosen to close our Tuesday class until it is deemed safe to reopen. We will reassess the situation regularly. Please let other dancers know if you are aware that they don’t check their emails or don’t receive our newsletters.
The dance class is closed but Modern Jive Surrey continues virtually (on-line), please continue to read …
During the closure, the Modern Jive Surrey Team will still be with you!
We will be in touch via our newsletter, the Facebook group and the website. We will send you videos to help you continue to practice/keep dancing. These videos will cover the following topics: beginner moves, intermediate moves, style, technique so even if you are on your own, you will be able to do some dancing in the comfort of your own home! Please help us to keep Modern Jive Surrey’s dance community alive by posting on our Facebook page!
What will happen on Tuesday nights?
Every week, in our newsletter, on the Facebook page and on the website, we will post a link to a Webinar/Virtual class. Join us at 8pm to catch up with your dancing friends, learn something new (facts about dancing, tips etc.) and maybe get up and dance! All your teachers will be there, it’s going to be a laugh. We aim to beat the coronavirus blues! For this first virtual meeting, we will be joined by Christine Keeble, one of the founder members of the Modern Jive Dance and inventor of the name ‘Modern Jive’. Our customers’ health (and that of your entourage) matters to us. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe and healthy.
Fun Modern Jive classes for everyone from complete beginners to dance experts.
Modern Jive is an easy partner dance similar to ballroom dancing, enriched by a variety of other dance styles: salsa, tango, West Coast Swing … There is minimal footwork so you will soon be able to dance a variety of moves to fantastic music ranging from the 1960s to the latest charts.
You don't need to bring a dance partner, come along one evening to see how much fun modern jive dancing is. Our classes are very friendly too.
You do not need to book, just turn up a few minutes before 8pm and you will be welcomed by our friendly team. We rotate people during lessons so even those who come on their own don't feel left out and get to know other people straightaway.
Dancing is a great way to keep fit! The latest research indicates that dancing beats the gym: not only does it improve aerobic capacity, balance and spatial capacity, it also activates vital parts of the brain as you learn dance moves.
